How to Calculate Concrete Yardage

Follow these steps to estimate how much concrete you need for your project. Always add 10% for waste and overage.

    Measure Length and Width

    Measure the length and width of your project area in feet.

    Determine Thickness

    Decide on the thickness of your concrete slab in inches. Standard residential slabs are 4 inches thick; driveways are typically 6 inches.

    Calculate Cubic Feet

    Multiply length × width × (thickness in inches ÷ 12) to get cubic feet.

    Convert to Cubic Yards

    Divide the cubic feet total by 27 to get cubic yards. Add 10% for waste and overage.
